OVER 500 job vacancies will be available during the Karnival Harapan Rakyat tomorrow from 10am to 2pm at Lebuh Macallum Community Hall, George Town, Penang.
Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Wong Yuee Harng said the event was organised in conjunction with the Jiwa Komuniti Madani programme.
“If you are looking for a job, this event is the perfect opportunity to connect with many large, medium and small companies,” said Wong in a press conference at his service centre.
The carnival, which will feature several corporate companies and factories, is organised by Komuniti Madani CY Choy.
The event partners are the Pengkalan Kota Women and Family Development Committee (JPWK) and the Penang Community Harmony Care Association (CHC).
Wong said the Pengkalan Kota Village and Community Management Council and Tanjong MP and his service centres would lend their support for the event.
Apart from the job fair, there will be a booth by the National Registration Department where the public can apply for new identity cards, birth certificates and death certificates.
“Those who apply for new identity cards can collect their new cards at Komtar UTC,” he said.
During the event, the CHC will also provide consultation on matters related to the law, tax and insurance policies.
There will also be a booth by the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) for enquiries regarding withdrawals from the third EPF account.
An information session on technical training courses such as sewing programmes and professional development opportunities will also be held.
“We expect a large turnout of about 1,500 visitors to the event that will have 26 exhibition booths.
“We hope the public will take advantage of these opportunities,” he said, adding that lucky draw gifts await visitors.
Also expected to attend the carnival are Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying and other VIPs.
Present during the press conference were CY Choy Komuniti Madani chairman Anthony Lim, CHC president Dr Lee Eng Wah, special officer to Tanjong MP Sim Mee Wan and JPWK Pengkalan Kota chairman Chong Siew Hong.
