Setapak school’s former students speedily brew first reunion with plans for more


The reunion brought together 53 students and teachers of Air Panas Girls School.

It started off as a casual conversation about rekindling old friendships.

But within 35 days, a group of former students from SMK (P) Air Panas in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, or more fondly known as Air Panas Girls School (APGS), were able to create an unforgettable school reunion.

The first reunion for the Class of 1981 at a hotel in Bukit Bintang brought together 53 attendees, including several former teachers.

The meeting was marked by joy, laughter and seamless coordination that highlighted the strength of their bonds.

Reunion committee head Ng Siew Foen said, “Seeing everyone here brought immense joy and nostalgia.

“Organising this reunion was a labour of love. It was aimed at rekindling old friendships and creating new memories together.”

She thanked the committee members for making the event possible.

Teachers who attended also expressed their joy.

Former history teacher Mrs Tay shared: “It was incredibly heartwarming to see so many familiar faces and to witness the strong connections that have endured over the years.”

Ms Wong, who taught Physical Education, said, “The reunion was magical. The laughter and stories shared brought back so many wonderful memories.”

The committee expressed their gratitude to participants for their support and hinted at the possibility of an even bigger reunion in the near future.

The reunion not only celebrated timeless ties and cherished memories, but also set the stage for continued connections among the school’s Class of ’81 alumnae.
