BATU Pahat district in Johor offers good business opportunities and growth prospects for Harvey Norman, a leading household goods retail company in Malaysia.

On that note, the company has expanded its presence by opening a new outlet in Batu Pahat town, also known as Bandar Penggaram.

Harvey Norman Singapore & Malaysia managing director Bernice Kwok said Batu Pahat became the first secondary town in Johor to have the company’s outlet.

“We want to better serve Batu Pahat residents by having our store in the town,” she said after the opening of Harvey Norman Batu Pahat Superstore.

Also present at the event were The Store Group executive director William Tang, Harvey Norman chief operating officer Jonathan Toh, lead general manager Eddy Ng, electric division general manager Ian Bushy Martin, furniture division general manager Mark Mah, small appliances and personal care division assistant general manager Yvonne Chin and computers and communications division assistant general manager Eugene Lim.

The store is the company’s 34th outlet and marks a milestone in their expansion move, with a target of opening 80 stores nationwide by 2028.

The store is the company’s fourth in Johor, following outlets in Johor Baru at Paradigm Mall, Toppen Shopping Centre and Mid Valley Southkey.

Kwok said that apart from serving Batu Pahat residents, the company also wanted to attract consumers from other districts namely Kluang, Muar, Tangkak and Segamat.

She said customers from these districts previously had to travel either to Johor Baru or Kuala Lumpur to visit their stores.

“At Harvey Norman, we understand the needs of our customers and strive to bring convenience right to their doorstep,” she added.

Kwok said the new outlet offered a wide range of electrical appliances, IT and mobile devices, furniture and bedding products under one roof.

She said an entire floor in the outlet was dedicated to the trendiest furniture collection including sofas, dining sets and extensive range of locally assembled options to world renowned brands like IMG and La-Z-Boy.

“For bedding, customers can choose from over 60 mattresses including top brands like Sealy, Serta, as well as offering a wide variety of bed frames.

“Apart from having the biggest range of large screen TVs with exclusive models in-store, there is also a wide range of laptops and smartphones,” she said.

She added that prior to the opening of the outlet, the company conducted a market survey on the home furnishing choices among customers in Johor Baru and Batu Pahat.

To cater to the ever-changing shopping behaviour and busy lifestyles of consumers, Kwok said the company was dedicated to empowering locals with its seamless omni-channel shopping experience, offering high-quality products at competitive prices.

“We offer flexible payment options for both credit card and non-credit card holders, such as instalments up to 48 months and Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) options,” she said.
