SCHOLARSHIPS worth RM180,000 have been awarded to six recipients by Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) at its education fund scholarship award presentation.
This year’s MBAM Education Scholarship Award 2024 recipients were Nicholas Ezra Martin Davadas, Bachelor in Technology (Environment) from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM); Ng Jing Jian, Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Universiti Malaya (UM) and Tan Chuan Huan, Bachelor of Computer Science, also from UM.
The MBAM-Tan Sri Dato’ Seri (Dr) Yeoh Tiong Lay Memorial Scholarship Fund recipient was Mohamad Nabil Syazwi Shahril, a Bachelor of Science in Architecture student at International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM).
Muhamad Fitri Baharum, Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) received the MBAM-Datuk Astaman Abdul Aziz Scholarship.
The MBAM-Graduate Alumni Scholarship went to Muhamad Khairul Ikhwan Zamry, Bachelor of Science in Construction Technology from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM).
The MBAM First Class Honours Degree Award was presented to Chai Han Qing who graduated with distinction from UTM in the field of Electrical Engineering.
Since 2016, the MBAM Education Fund board of management has provided a yearly scholarship of RM10,000 without any bond, to deserving students to pursue their studies at selected local universities, leading to a Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) accredited bachelor’s degree or professional qualification for a course related to the construction industry, said the association in a media statement.
MBAM has awarded scholarships amounting to RM3.672mil since 2004, which has benefitted 184 recipients.
The association provides assistance to students pursuing their tertiary education in fields such as mechanical engineering, civil engineering, architecture, construction technology, environment technology, and computer science.
Established in July 1999, the MBAM Education Fund’s purpose is to contribute towards the further progress and advancement of the construction industry in Malaysia.
This is done through the provision of financial assistance in the form of scholarships on the basis of need or merit, to eligible students.
The effort is part of MBAM’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme to contribute towards the development of the construction industry by grooming young talents.
In its media statement, MBAM further said that it was pleased to continue its contributions to the progress of Malaysian youth who will drive the construction industry forward.
“By empowering the next generation, we are not only aiding their individual growth but also laying the foundation for a more sustainable, resilient and innovative industry.”
The presentation was held in conjunction with the MBAM Annual Golf Tournament at Glenmarie Golf & Country Club in Shah Alam, Selangor.
