THE Olympic spirit has come to life at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur with the “Home of Champions” exhibition and sporting activities.

The event, which comes to an end tomorrow, is an Olympic Village Plaza pop-up installation set with a recreation of the Arc de Triomphe monument at the shopping mall.

It aims to share the thrill of the Games with mall visitors until the end of the Games in Paris, France.

The instalment, made possible by Olympic Games payment technology and Maybank Malaysia partner Visa, also features games and activities for visitors who fancy themselves as Olympic athletes.

The event was launched by Ambassador of France to Malaysia, Axel Cruau who said it fosters international unity and sporting excellence.

“Pavilion is where things happen, and now it is ‘home’ to the Olympics,” he said, thanking the mall for hosting the exhibition and recreating the moment.

Pavilion Retail chief executive officer Datuk Joyce Yap said bringing the Olympic experience to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur was a point of pride for the shopping centre.

“We believe this reflects the core values of Olympians – friendship and building a better world through sports. It’s the spirit that counts,” she said.

Visitors had the opportunity to experience various games at the mall, including penalty kicks, bowling, basketball and athletics.

The French Embassy has also organised a photo exhibition titled “Sports and Fraternity”.

The exhibition features 24 iconic photographs that highlight the Olympic Truce and capture the spirit of unity in sports.

Maybank, a partner of the event, was represented by head of cards B. Ravintharan.

Visitors can also explore a replica of the Olympic Village and enjoy French delicacies from Paul’s booth.
