A TOWERING edifice greets visitors as they enter Kuala Terengganu.
It is the Terengganu State Museum, located near the Sekati Island bridge, which serves as a gateway for motorists arriving from the East Coast Highway.
The museum has been in operation since 1984 and consists of four linked blocks, a maritime museum and five traditional houses.
Inside, there are several galleries devoted to the royal history as well as the olden days of textiles, crafts, science, Islamic culture and arts.
The facades are adorned with geometric motifs while the roofs, reminiscent of old kampung houses, feature nostalgic charm.
Surrounded by a lush garden, the museum is a popular photo spot.
It is open daily, except on Friday and public holidays, from 9am to 5pm.
Entry fees are RM5 (adults), RM2 (children aged seven to 12), RM15 (foreigners) and RM10 (foreign children). ― By FARID WAHAB
