The Malaysia Lotus Light Charity Association (Selangor & Kuala Lumpur Division) is organising a charity Mid-Autumn Carnival on Sept 15, from 8am to 2pm.
The event to be held at Maju Link in Bandar Tasik Selatan is sponsored by KK Super Mart and co-organised by Community360º.
Various activities will be held including a bazaar, concert, colouring competition, free traditional chinese medicine (TCM) consultation, parent-child games and others.
Association branch president Wong See Yi said they were committed to promoting healthcare, social welfare, education and cultural enrichment with the aim of creating a compassionate and benevolent society.
“As the Mid-Autumn Festival and Malaysia Day are forthcoming, we are holding the charity bazaar to raise funds for impoverished families, orphans, old folk, individuals with disabilities and other vulnerable groups in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
“The purpose of this event is not only to celebrate the spirit of reunion and gratitude, but also to promote traditional culture while fostering a sense of community,” he said.
Organising committee chairman Robert Loi said the event will feature a diverse array of stalls offering food, mooncakes, artworks, daily necessities and entertainment.
Charity coupons are available at RM30 per book which comes with a chance to enter a lucky draw.
The association also welcomes contributions and sponsorships.
The association will also host the inaugural “Hand in Hand for Mid-Autumn Festival, Heart to Heart for a Harmonious Malaysia” competition.
It is being held to celebrate Malaysia Day, Mid-Autumn Festival, promote Chinese cultural heritage and to foster respect among races.
It is open to primary school pupils in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur with cash prizes and certificates awaiting winners.
There will also be a concert featuring various artists along with a special lion dance and face changing performance by children from Jing Sun Welfare Society.
The event is also supported by Lions Club Selangor TCM whose members have agreed to provide free treatment and consultations.
