KAMPUNG Orang Asli Sungai Buah Dalam (Klebang) villagers in Dengkil, Sepang, will not need to draw well water for their daily use as a RM500,000 Rural Water Supply Project has been approved to deliver treated piped water to their homes.

Selangor human resources and poverty eradication committee chairman V. Papparaidu said the water supply project involved installation of new pipes.

“Works to have the new pipes installed will start from the main pipe connector at Jalan Utama to villagers’ houses without treated water supply,” he said, adding that the pipe installation by Air Selangor involved 10 houses with new accounts.

The village is part of 7.6ha gazetted Orang Asli land that has been inhabited since 1935.

It is learnt that the houses have not received treated water supply for more than 10 years.

Papparaidu added that the state government through the Orang Asli affairs standing committee had allocated RM2.5mil this year to develop and uplift their living standards.

The focus is on land gazette, education, infrastructure, economy, leadership, culture and health.

“Various programmes are being carried out and planned by the state government focusing on development of the Orang Asli community.

“It involves upgrading and improvement of basic infrastructure in the village including education, health and economy,” said Papparaidu.
