Malaysian flags were distributed to motorists going through Jalan 14/1, Section 14 in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, yesterday.

The event was jointly organised by Section 14 Residents Association (RA) and Madani Community Bukit Gasing.

For the past five years, the RA has been distributing flags twice a year – ahead of National Day and Malaysia Day.

This year, 100 Jalur Gemilang were distributed along Jalan 14/1 within 45 minutes.

On hand to distribute the flags were Section 14 RA vice-chairman Eddy Tan and RA members.

“We want to encourage the spirit of unity, appreciation of our country and sacrifices of the leaders and heroes who helped us gain independence,” said former Section 14 RA chairman Selva Sugumaran, who coordinated the event.

He said flags were distributed in Section 8 last week and a similar event would take place at Kampung Baiduri in Section 51A on Aug 24.

The event was sponsored by Bukit Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran and Zone 14 councillor Sugumaran Annamalai. — By JOSHUA YAP
