PASIR Gudang City Council (MBPG) is working on a new development blueprint as its existing plan nears completion.
Pasir Gudang mayor Datuk Asman Shah Abd Rahman said more than 80% of developments planned under the MBPG Revolution Manifesto, launched in March 2021, had been completed.
“The city council is working on a new development blueprint for the next five years to build on progress already made,” he said.
“We will review the Pasir Gudang Strategic Plan alongside the Smart City Blueprint 2025-2030.
“We expect to hold discussions with department heads and councillors by the end of this month or early September.”
Asman Shah said MBPG would also invite community leaders to be a part of the discussion to create a more holistic plan and shared vision for Pasir Gudang.
“The discussions will focus mainly on what to do with the remaining 20% of the planned developments — whether to continue with them or introduce new projects.
“We will open the floor for discussions and suggestions. All ideas will be compiled and reviewed.”
Asman Shah said some of the projects that the city council had introduced included the Safe Community Scheme (SKS) for landed properties as well as non-gated and guarded areas.
“To date, 10 residential areas have registered for the SKS scheme,” Asman Shah said when contacted.
“It is similar to the service provided by gated and guarded housing areas but instead of paying maintenance fees, residents only need to pay for the security guards’ salaries.
“We will provide regulations on how the gates are to be built and placed, lighting system and guardhouse.
“We will also instal closed-circuit television(CCTV) cameras with artificial intelligence (AI) features at the main entrance and exit.”
The 10 participating residential areas are Taman Air Biru, Taman Mawar, Taman Rinting (Balau), Taman Kota Masai (Jalan Nenas), Taman Cahaya Masai, Taman Flora Height, Taman Nusa Damai, Taman Desa Rakyat, Taman Kota Masai (Jalan Duku) and Taman Scientex.
Asman Shah added that MBPG’s plan to instal more smart poles in Pasir Gudang had attracted investors from Japan, who expressed interest in working with the city council on this initiative.
“Each pole will be equipped with LED lights, security and surveillance systems, smart sensors and loudspeakers.
“This is in line with our plan to instal 340 AI-equipped CCTVs in Pasir Gudang,” he said, adding that the CCTV command centre would be linked to the Seri Alam District Police Headquarters.
