Puspakom's Section 51 PJ branch will cease operations on Aug 31

PETALING JAYA: The Puspakom branch at Section 51 here will cease operations on Aug 31.

In a statement on Tuesday (Aug 20), Puspakom Sdn Bhd said the move was a strategy towards the liberalisation of the vehicle inspection industry in the country.

Its chief executive officer Mahmood Razak Bahman said the PJ City branch closure would not affect the quality of their services.

“The Puspakom branch at Glenmarie will extend its operating hours.

“Starting Sept 7, it will operate from 7am until 11pm to provide flexible timing for the customers,” he said.

On March 24 last year, the government announced that the vehicle inspection business will be liberalised soon as the sector will be open to players other than Puspakom after Aug 31, 2024.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke had said that vehicle inspection services on behalf of the Road Transport Department will be open to all parties that meet conditions.

However, Loke said Puspakom would continue to offer its services as its contract has been extended for 15 years from Sept 1, 2024.

For its customers in Selangor, Puspakom said they could also go to branches nearby including Padang Jawa and Cheras in Kuala Lumpur.
