Melaka focused on affordable housing development agenda

Melaka government is committed to its affordable housing (RMM) development agenda while maintaining its position as the state with the lowest-priced housing units.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said according to the National Property Information Centre (Napic) report for the third quarter of last year, the average price of a house in Melaka was RM207,600 compared to RM458,751 at the national level.

“RMM in Melaka remains an important development agenda, in line with the Federal Government’s aim of easing the cost of living.

“The state government has collaborated with Parkland Group to build nearly 800 Rumah Bahagia and Rumah Impian B in Bandar Botani Parkland to meet the needs of people, especially the B40 and M40 groups,” he told the media, as reported by Bernama.

He said this after launching Lebuh Jasin Selatan, Jalan Jasin Selatan-Bukit Kajang, Bandar Parkland Recreational Park route, and the handing over of Jasin Municipal Council (MPJ) stalls.

Lebuh Jasin Selatan, spanning 4.17km and built at a cost of RM100mil, was funded by Parkland Group (84.46%) and Scientex (15.54%).

Ab Rauf said the road shortened the travel distance and time from North-South Highway (PLUS) via Lipat Kajang Jasin Toll to Bandar Jasin, by about 11km which meant it would take only seven minutes.

Previously, getting to Bandar Jasin took 30 minutes.

Ab Rauf said that another new route, Lebuh Jasin Selatan-Bukit Kajang spanning 1.81km and funded by Parkland Group, was expected to reduce travel time from PLUS highway via Lipat Kajang Jasin Toll to Bandar Melaka.

“I am optimistic that the highway systems will strengthen the area’s transportation network while acting as a catalyst for local economic growth,” he said.
