OSK Foundation (OSKF) announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Women’s Institute of Management (WIM) to advance their shared commitment in empowering underserved women across Malaysia.

The MOU was formalised by WIM chairman Datuk Nellie Tan-Wong and OSK Foundation chief executive officer Cheryl Ong in Kuala Lumpur.

The partnership aims to create sustainable impact and provide support to women from disadvantaged backgrounds, including single mothers as well as those from B40 and indigenous communities.

Since the programme’s launch in 2019, WIM and OSKF have conducted 22 workshops around the country.

These workshops were designed to impart hands-on entrepreneurial skills and business know-how to help women start and manage their enterprises.

To date, over 800 underserved women have benefitted from the programme, with the majority successfully starting their own businesses or improving existing ones, a press release from OSKF stated.

The latest MOU marks a new chapter in this partnership, reinforcing the joint commitment towards supporting women entrepreneurs through the “Seed and Support Women’s Entrepreneurial Grant”, it added.

The new initiative will provide financial support to help women take their businesses to the next level.

Applications for the grant are open until Aug 31.
