IN conjunction with National Day celebration this month, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) is extending assistance to residents of welfare homes in Klang Valley.

Through its corporate social responsibility initiative, Sesama Mara, Air Selangor contributed essential items such as food and other basic necessities to three children’s welfare homes: Rumah Kebajikan Anbu Illam, Kuala Lumpur; House of Joy, Puchong; and Rumah Kasih Harmoni, Sungai Buloh.

In addition to providing assistance and visiting the welfare homes, the Hydro Heroes volunteer team comprising eight Air Selangor employees and eight volunteers from Sapot, a social support platform, also conducted a self-care workshop at Rumah Kebajikan Anbu Illam for the first time.

The workshop, themed around mental health, aimed to raise awareness of these health challenges among children and teenagers.

Air Selangor corporate communications head Elina Baseri said, “This first collaboration with Sapot is part of our initiative to provide a safe and stigma-free space for the community to discuss mental health issues more openly.

“This aligns with the spirit of independence, which emphasises the development of a healthy and prosperous society.”

Additionally, Air Selangor volunteers also spent time with the children, celebrating birthdays and singing patriotic songs.

Under the Sesama Mara initiative, Air Selangor distributed essential food items to B40 families in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

Since the programme was introduced in June 2020, 5,835 Boxes of Hope had been distributed to the targeted families.

The public can contribute in the form of physical purchases at Village Grocer outlets at Tamarind Square Cyberjaya, MyTown Shopping Centre Cheras, 1 Mont Kiara, Central i-City Shah Alam and Melawati Mall Ampang.
