AS THE durian season drew to an end, assemblymen Wong Yuee Harng (Pengkalan Kota) and Connie Tan Hooi Peng (Seri Delima) each hosted a special event centred around the King of Fruits in Penang.
Approximately 200 people comprising their team members, village community management council (MPKK) members and media personnel attended the two events, where they were treated to a variety of durian.
The gathering offered a delightful opportunity for durian lovers to savour the fruits and served as an occasion for community bonding.
Attendees enjoyed the rich, creamy flavours of different durian varieties while engaging in lively conversations.
Tan said that about 150kg of durian, including popular varieties such as Musang King and Red Prawn, were provided for the event.
“In addition to the durian, guests also enjoyed a selection of other local fruits such as mangosteens and rambutan,” said Tan during the durian party held at the Sungai Gelugor community hall.
“There was also a karaoke session after they had eaten to their hearts’ content,” she added.
Wong said that although the current durian season was nearing its end, the fruit could still be found especially in the Balik Pulau area.
He added that the durian party was held as a gesture of appreciation and to also express his gratitude to MPKK members and the media personnel for their continuous support and participation in local events.
Wong’s event was held at the Lebuh Acheh community hall in George Town.
Also present at the Pengkalan Kota event were Tanjong MP and Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying, Air Putih assemblyman Lim Guan Eng, who is also DAP national chairman as well as Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng.
