Setapak residents ordered to evacuate due to landslip


THE occupants of a house in Taman Bunga Raya in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, have been ordered to evacuate following a landslip underneath the structure.

The premise is located atop a hill next to Jalan Genting Klang, parts of which slipped after a downpour on Thursday evening (Aug 22).

Speaking to a Malay portal, the Fire and Rescue Department senior operation commander 2 Muhammad Hasif Zakaria said the Kuala Lumpur Action Centre received a distress call at 5.43pm.

“A total of six officers together with machinery from Wanga Maju Fire Station were dispatched to the scene,” he was quoted as saying.

He said according to information received from the police, the occupants of nearby houses were also ordered to evacuate due to soil movement.

“Monitoring is still ongoing at the site. As of now, only one house is affected,” he was further quoted as saying.
