Jalur Gemilang spotted as cities gear up for National and Malaysia Day celebrations
AS THE 67th National Day approaches, the Jalur Gemilang has been hoisted in various locations across the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, and in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
The national flag can be seen draped on lamp posts in front of the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya, in line with the spirit of the “Fly the Jalur Gemilang” campaign that was launched on July 21.
Other public sector agencies showcasing their patriotism are the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda), Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and Salak Selatan police station in the capital city.
On the ground, the spirit of patriotism can be felt in various streets such as Jalan Raja Laut in Kuala Lumpur and Jalan Templer in Petaling Jaya.
The roundabout near Assunta Hospital, Petaling Jaya, has been further enhanced with rows of the national flag.
Besides flying the Jalur Gemilang, Malaysians often show their unity and love for the nation by wearing their traditional costumes.
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said this year’s National Day theme of “Malaysia Madani: Jiwa Merdeka” symbolises the integration of Malaysians from various cultures and ethnicities.
He said the “1 Rumah 1 Jalur Gemilang” (1 House 1 Flag) initiative is expected to gain momentum in the final week leading up to National Day on Aug 31.
Fahmi said flag distribution aims to ignite the patriotic spirit among residents ahead of National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.
He expressed hope that encouraging the people to proudly display the Jalur Gemilang at their homes, businesses and on their vehicles will instil a deep sense of patriotism.
