MALAYSIA’S largest floral festival will this year welcomes visitors with over 700,000 blooms in a spectacular display that transforms Putrajaya into a vibrant garden.
The 13th edition of the Royal Floria Putrajaya is expected to see up to a million visitors to Malaysia’s administrative capital.
Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) president Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud said the festival aligns with the CHASE City model championed by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
CHASE stands for clean, healthy, advanced, safe and eco-friendly.
Fadlun said this model emphasised a clean city not only in terms of physical cleanliness but also in creating a pleasant environment with beautiful landscapes and green spaces.
He said this year’s theme flower is the petunia, known for its unique growth pattern and vibrant, cascading blooms.
“This event not only enhances Putrajaya’s aesthetic appeal but also strengthens its position as a top tourist destination.
“We are expecting a million visitors for this year’s Royal Floria,” he said in a statement.
The event has been organised by PPj with support from the Federal Territories Department since it began in 2007.
This year’s festival, which kicked off on Aug 22, features gardens from more than 30 government departments and agencies, where these exhibits showcase their innovative ideas and unique designs.
“A major attraction is the Astaka Flora pavilion, which displays floral arrangements from 10 countries, namely Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia and Brunei under the theme ‘Tropical Wonders Highland & Lowland’,” said Fadlun.
Additional highlights include the Malaysia Madani Garden and Royal Garden, in celebration of Malaysia’s 67th National Day.
Visitors will also have a chance to enjoy the Garden Bazaar selling landscaping and gardening products, a community garden offering urban farming produce from Putrajaya’s community gardens as well as an arts and crafts booth featuring local handicrafts by Kraftangan Malaysia.
There is also a Feast Garden with food and drink stalls, which seats up to 300 visitors.
