China’s rich and diverse attractions were the gems at Malaysia International Travel Fair in Kuala Lumpur.

The event, organised by China Cultural Centre and held at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, sought to deepen tourism ties between China and Malaysia.

“With over 400 flights per week connecting China and Malaysia and the recent mutual visa exemption policy, tourism between the two nations is expected to reach new heights,” said China Cultural Centre director Zhang Jiexin in his speech at the opening ceremony.

The spotlight at the “Hello! China” exhibition area was on Chongqing and its historical and cultural heritage.

Chongqing Municipal Culture and Tourism Development delegation head Wen Jianghua described the city as a metropolis with a unique blend of ancient culture and modern development, set against a backdrop of stunning natural beauty.

He added that Chongqing had natural heritage sites such as Wulong Fairy Mountain and Nanchuan Jinfo Mountain.

Wen also spoke about the area’s food highlights including hot pot and Wanzhou grilled fish.

Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association president Patrick Law, who was also present, expressed his enthusiasm for the growing ties between Malaysia and Chongqing.

He said the event gave visitors a taste of what Chongqing had to offer. — By HAZEL TAN YAN LING
