Movie tribute to heroes in Lahad Datu incursion

IN CONJUNCTION with Merdeka, Selangor and Klang MCA divisions screened the film “Takluk: Lahad Datu” for more than 100 members of the police force from the Selangor police contingent, Klang district police, and the local community.

The film was inspired by the true story of the struggle and dedication of policemen during the Lahad Datu intrusion in February 2013.

This programme was organised to honour the contributions of the police, especially since MCA’s ties with Malaysia’s security forces date back to the early establishment of MCA in 1949 during the fight against the communists as well as in the pursuit of independence.

Continuing the legacy of its founding leaders, MCA’s leadership aspires to further strengthen the relationship between the party and the country’s security forces.

Selangor MCA vice-president and chairman Datuk Lawrence Low said the film screening was meaningful.

“Not only was it an opportunity for MCA and the men and women in blue to interact with each other, it was also for all of us to remember and honour our nation’s heroes,” he said.

He said the sacrifices and contributions of the national security forces, as demonstrated during the Sabah intrusion 11 years ago, reflected the dedication and bravery of the security personnel in maintaining public order and defending the nation’s sovereignty.

Also present was Selangor police’s crime prevention and community safety department deputy head ACP Ramli Kasa.

Meanwhile, Selangor MCA also extended its congratulations to the director, cast, crew, sponsors and all individuals involved in the film production.

In February 2013, the nation was rocked by news of intrusion by Sulu armed terrorists who entered Malaysian waters in stages at Felda Sahabat, Lahad Datu, Sabah.

A shootout in Kampung Tanduo on March 1 saw 10 Malaysian security personnel and 68 Sulu terrorists killed.

The conflict was declared over on April 10, 2013.
