A group of underprivileged children enjoyed a vibrant occasion marking National Day in Genting Highlands, thanks to Resorts World Genting (RWG).

Partaking in the “Ini Jiwa Kita” Merdeka Fashion Show, the youngsters from BRDB Rotary Children’s Residence (BRCR) charity home dazzled in colourful traditional outfits enhanced with Merdeka-themed decorations.

To make their day memorable, the little guests were aided by volunteers from RWG’s Genting Green Generation (G3) programme, which is dedicated to community engagement and promoting sustainability.

Present at the event, which was held at the Malay Village, First World Plaza, were BRCR chairman Datuk Chan Kam Fatt and BRDB corporate relations and communications vice-president Datuk Seri Kay Atisha Parasuraman.

The duo also served as judges for the fashion show alongside BRDB leisure, hospitality and lifestyle executive vice-president Peter Dewey Foster.

Kay Atisha said the event was a memorable way of appreciating the children of the world and served as a meaningful opportunity to celebrate Malaysia’s diversity.

“As we celebrate Merdeka, we come together as one Malaysian family, recognising every segment of our community.

““We are truly delighted to have the children be a part of our National Day celebration.

“It is wonderful to see our G3 volunteers engage with the children, adding personal artistic touches to reflect the Merdeka spirit,” she added.

The fashion show featured six creative groups – Bunga Raya, Harimau Malaya, Jalur Gemilang, Rafflesia, Gunung Kinabalu and Keris – who showcased their unique interpretation of Merdeka.

The judging criteria focused on patriotic design, innovative use of materials and colours and the embodiment of the Merdeka spirit.

The top three group winners were awarded food hampers while all participating groups received special gifts.

The children also took home a RWG goodie bag each that included a stationery set and notebook.

Following the fashion show, the children enjoyed a day of excitement at Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park, where they experienced thrilling rides and attractions.

“We are deeply appreciative of RWG in organising this wonderful event,” Chan said.

“The children were overjoyed to be part of the fashion show and had a fantastic time at Skytropolis.

“It was a day filled with joy.”
