THE Taman Cendana Health Clinic in Pasir Gudang, Johor, which is currently under construction, will start operations by March next year.

State health and environment committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said the RM36mil facility was expected to be completed by the end of January.

“The clinic is slated to start operating in stages in March 2025,’’ he said during a site visit.

Ling said the project, which started in 2021, was delayed as the contractor had requested for an extension three times.

Currently, Taman Cendana residents and those living nearby visit one of three clinics that are 3km to 10km away, he said.

They are the Masai Health Clinic, which sees between 1,000 and 1,200 patients daily; Pasir Gudang Health Clinic (800 to 1,000 patients daily) and Cahaya Baru Health Clinic, which serves between 200 and 250 mothers and babies.

Ling, who is also Yong Peng assemblyman, said the Taman Cendana clinic would have surgery, X-ray, pharmacy, emergency, laboratory, rehabilitation and dental facilities.

“The building will be fully air-conditioned with parking bays for 530 cars and 100 motorcycles,’’ he said.

On a related matter, Ling said Hospital Pasir Gudang was slated for completion by year-end and would start operating in stages in the first quarter of 2025.
