A CHARITY golf event has successfully raised RM153,010 for the Rotary Club of Kulai Kidney Dialysis Centre.

Event organising chairman Jarret Ching King Ying said the programme was co-organised by the Young and Dangerous Golf Group and Ponderosa Golf and Country Resort.

The Ponderosa-Young and Dangerous Charity Golf supports various causes within the local community through their annual charity event.

“The event, dubbed ‘Ping For Hope’ was held at Ponderosa Golf and Country Resort in Johor Baru.

“We are delighted to share positive values with the community through golf,” Ching said in a statement.

He said the organising committee’s children took part by collecting donations from attendees, which increased support for the programme.

He said a total of 114 players joined the charity tournament.

“In addition to the participation fees, generous donations and sponsorships for the lucky draw prizes contributed to the total proceeds,” he added.

Ching said the resort had been the event co-organiser for the past four years.

“We look forward to continuing this collaboration to help those facing financial difficulties while seeking treatment for life-threatening kidney disease,” he said.

A cheque was handed over to Rotary Club of Kulai Foundation president Amber Goh at the prize presentation ceremony.

“We were told that the dialysis centre faces a monthly deficit of RM60,000 to RM70,000, with administrative expenses taking up a significant portion,” said Ching.

“While the centre charges RM110 per patient under the Health Ministry’s scheme, the actual cost is RM150, with the centre subsidising the difference.”
