KOTA KINABALU: Will-writing is a form of security for one's loved ones in the future, says Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Youth vice chairman Yong Yit Jee.
He said this is why the party would host a free will-writing service on Sept 21 for the first 100 people who attend on a first-come, first-served basis.
Yong said that many people do not have wills, as some think it is taboo or even that they are putting a curse on themselves when they prepare a will.
“That is very outdated thinking. A will is preparation to protect your legacy and loved ones,” he added when contacted.
On the service, Yong said that what would be done would be to help someone prepare a will so that the documents are legally valid.
He added that a poorly drafted will would cause inconvenience and even disputes among the beneficiaries and their loved ones.
“You wouldn’t want to see your loved ones argue among themselves, right,” said Yong.
Yong said this free will-writing service provided by SAPP and its co-organisers will take place at the Yun Fah Restaurant (Winner Restaurant) in downtown Kota Kinabalu from 2PM to 5PM and would be in both English and Mandarin.
