Sibu school to mark 122 years with former principals and ‘Red Ants’

Ting (seated second from left) with the SEOSA committee members hold up dinner tickets that are being sold.

A THANKSGIVING celebration is in the works for SMK St Elizabeth (SES), one of Sibu oldest schools, as it turns 122 this year.

To be held at RH Hotel on Oct 12, the event is being organised by St Elizabeth’s Old Students’ Association (Seosa) which is, in turn, celebrating its 44th year.

Seosa chairman Eta Ting called on former students to join the double celebration.

“We will also organise a ‘Welcome Back Home’ programme for our ex-principals and ex-Red Ants (Red Ants is a moniker for students of the school).

“This will include a tour of the school at noon followed by light refreshments on the same day.

“Prior to the tour, there will also be a Thanksgiving Mass at 11am at the SES auditorium,” she said in a statement.

Separately, Ting said SES ex-students could also apply for Academic Incentive Awards for their children who excelled in the recent Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or Unified Examination Certificate (UEC).

To qualify for this incentive, Ting said that alumni members need to have joined Seosa for at least three months.

“Those eligible can call Josephine Wong at 019-835 5788 to get the form for your child to apply for the Academic Incentive Award,” she said.
