IF YOU’RE a durian lover, few things would seem as heavenly as the opportunity to eat as much durian as you want and for free.

This promise of a durian buffet lured more than 2,000 fans of the King of Fruits to Bayu Sutera Galleria in Bandar Sri Sendayan near Seremban, Negri Sembilan.

Organised by developer Matrix Concepts’ Holdings Bhd, the event offered the public free premium varieties including Musang King, Tekka, D101 and D24 – all under one roof at its Bayu Sutera lakeside residential development.

Guests savoured 2.6 tonnes of premium durians alongside other local fruits like pandan coconut, jackfruit, rambutan, mangosteen and watermelon.

Matrix Concepts chief marketing officer Lim Kok Yee said Durian Fiesta 2024 was held as a gesture of appreciation to the local community for their continuous support.

“We are thrilled by the overwhelming response from our valued housebuyers and Sendayan communities at our Durian Fiesta,” he said.

Lim added that similar events would be planned to foster greater community engagement.

Durian Fiesta 2024 was the developer’s first durian “makan” session after five years.

It had hosted four similar events at different residential developments in 2019.

This year, guests were also treated to a special appear- ance by content creator My Cousin.

The durian-loving video artiste shared tips on identifying various types of durian.

While their parents enjoyed the thorny fruit, children were kept entertained with a magic show and fun activities.

There were also ice-cream and popcorn stalls.

Bayu Sutera, a 87.4ha lakeside residential development, launched its first phase in 2021.

So far, some 963 units have been completed and handed over to buyers.
