THE contractor of a culvert project in Tago Industrial Park in Bandar Sri Damansara, Selangor, has been tasked to repair a slope damaged by soil erosion.

This is to ensure the safety of factories in the area.

Bukit Lanjan assemblyman Pua Pei Ling said the culvert project, which was part of the Klang Valley Double Track (KVDT) Project Phase 1, was expected to be completed by the end of this month.

“Gombak Land and District Office and Railway Assets Corporation (RAC) will monitor the project and slope works.

“We are hoping for the culvert project to be finished on time so the soil erosion will be addressed,” she said during a press conference after the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) “Mesra Rakyat” community programme at Damansara Damai Community Hall.

In a StarMetro report on May 24, titled “Sri Damansara culvert project raises fear of landslides”, Pua had raised concerns about the safety of two factories as their foundations were damaged by a landslide in January last year.

The factories are located on a hilly slope near the culvert project.

The KVDT Project Phase 1 is aimed at upgrading the 30-year-old railway tracks to accommodate faster trains.

Two culverts, costing around RM7mil, are being built to safeguard the tracks from flooding.

One of these culverts is in Tago Industrial Park.

On a separate matter, Pua encouraged locals to apply for medical aid under Selangor government’s “Iltizam Selangor Sihat” scheme.

“Bukit Lanjan has a quota of 1,000 applicants for the scheme. More than half of the amount has been approved.

“Applications can be made through my office or via the Selangkah app.

“I hope that more people will take apply,” she said, adding that there were two categories – families and singles.

“Iltizam Selangor Sihat” is aimed at helping low-income folk gain access to basic medical treatment, vaccination and insurance coverage.

The family category is open to households with a monthly income of RM3,000 and below as well as single folk earning less than RM2,000.

People with disabilities and senior citizens aged 65 and above are also eligible.

All applicants must be registered voters and have lived in Selangor for more than 10 years.
