AS PART of its emphasis on workplace safety, a company specialising in boiler design and manufacturing has donated to two non-governmental organisations dedicated to advancing safety and health initiatives.
Boilermech Holdings Bhd (Boilermech) donated to Pertubuhan Ikatan Komuniti Selamat (Ikatan) and Malaysia Industrial Safety Health Association (Misha), both known for improving safety and health awareness and for their commitment to community safety.
“We are honoured to support Ikatan and Misha.
“By partnering these two organisations, we are extending our commitment to safety and health beyond our company, and into the wider community,” said Boilermech group managing director Chia Lik Khai.
“Safety is at the core of our values at Boilermech and this event is a testament to our ongoing commitment to ensuring that every member of our team works in an environment that prioritises their wellbeing,” he said when launching the company’s inaugural Occupatio-nal Safety and Health (OSH) Day 2024.
In his address to the company’s employees, Ikatan chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye emphasised the significance of OSH and workplace safety.
“Investing in workplace safety and health is financially prudent,” the veteran safety activist said.
“The costs associated with workplace accidents – including medical expenses, compensation, legal fees and lost productivity – far outweigh the costs of implementing preventive measures.”
Lee added that enhancement of safety and health at workplaces could be realised by implementing an OSH Management System, fostering a culture of safety, providing training and education, utilising technology and innovation and engaging in continuous improvement.
Selangor Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) director Ahmad Jailani Mansor was the guest of honour at Boilermech’s OSH Day.
He also witnessed the presentation of mock cheques of RM10,000 and RM5,000 to Ikatan, and MiSHA, respectively.
