VISITORS to Putrajaya Community Carnival and Water Festival had over 60 activities to keep them entertained.
Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) president Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud said they had targeted a turnout of 100,000 visitors over the four-day festival, with final numbers recorded at 150,000 guests.
“The event is also expected to generate some RM100,000 for the participating vendors,” he said when launching the event at Precinct 18 Futsal Complex.
The carnival was divided into 10 zones, with each area hosting a variety of different activities.
One of the highlights was the “Pasar Saloma” market in Zone 2, which saw some 150 vendors selling various types of food and dry goods.
A mobile exhibition (Zone 5) featured the participation of federal agencies such as the Fire and Rescue Department, the police and the Road Transport Department.
The ever-popular Jualan Rahmah (Zone 9) offered household sundries such as chicken, with Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Bhd and Koperasi Perbadanan Putrajaya among participating agencies.
The water festival (Zone 10) was no less exciting with activities such as indoor rowing as well as kayak and longboat competitions.
Fadlun said the carnival was aimed at enhancing the relationship between PPj and the local community.
“This is very important to nurture a sense of identity and belonging within the Putrajaya community,” he said.
He added that the event was also in line with Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa’s vision of turning the Federal Territories into clean, healthy, advanced, safe and eco-friendly (CHASE) cities.
Also present at the launch were Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd group chief business officer Mizan Masram and Putrajaya Residents Representative Council (MPPWP) chairman Datuk Ahmad Faisal Abdul Karim, as PPJ’s main strategic partners for the carnival.
After the launch, guests and visitors were entertained by performances by students from Putrajaya and artistes Aris Ariwatan and Zul Handy Black.
