Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) has allocated educational aid to schools and students in Kota Damansara, Selangor, to improve the quality of education throughout the school session.
Five secondary schools in Sungai Buloh constituency received a total of RM50,000 in funding for the Tuisyen Rakyat (People’s Tuition) programme, while 11 primary schools received RM55,000 in school aid.
Additionally, RM50,000 was allocated to 500 schoolgoers through the YBR Educational Incentive Programme, an initiative in collaboration with the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry.
The aid aims to help schools enhance student achievement through educational programmes as well as provide financial assistance to students from the asnaf (hardcore poor) category and B40 households to improve their academic performance for the 2024 session.
The incentives were presented by Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan at a community hall in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya.
Also present at the presentation ceremony were YBR board of trustees member Young Syefura Othman, general manager Syaiful Rizal Abdul Ghani, operations division head Mohd Mukhti Abd Rahman and corporate administration head Khairul Na’im Arifin.
Ramanan said the aid was expected to help schools improve the students’ academic achievement through educational programmes that could increase the school’s grade point average (GPA).
“I am grateful that YBR continues to assist students and schools in Sungai Buloh.
“This indirectly alleviates the financial burden, especially for heads of households, in providing learning equipment for their children,” he said.
In line with the slogan “Ending Poverty Through Education”, Ramanan said the government remained concerned and committed to empowering the education sector to produce a highly educated Malaysian generation and eradicate poverty in the country.
“Education is a crucial element for the nation’s future.
“My mission and primary focus for the constituency are to assist and elevate education,” said the Sungai Buloh MP.
Young Syefura said this effort was an initiative to help the community, particularly in the field of education, and was one of YBR’s strategies to assist the local community.
As of September 2024, a total of 24,306 students and 226 schools have benefitted from YBR’s school and education aid, with a total allocation of RM2.94mil covering 65 locations.
