Johor government has always focused on the people’s well-being, says state works, transportation, infrastructure and communication committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh.

“Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has always emphasised that good basic infrastructure and facilities are important.

“Improvements to infrastructure and facilities are being made in all districts in Johor, including Kluang,” said the Bukit Pasir assemblyman in a statement.

He said more than RM143mil had been allocated for the Kahang water treatment plant (WTP) that would benefit some 20,838 accounts in Kluang.

Mohamad Fazli said the WTP’s capacity was 40 million litres per day and it had also increased its water reserve capacity from 9% to more than 20%.

“The state government has also allocated RM1mil for the water rebate programme, which has benefitted 2,767 recipients throughout Johor who are listed in the e-Kasih system and classified as poor, hardcore poor and Orang Asli.

“From the figure, RM55,413 was channelled to Kluang, which has 141 recipients under the programme,” he added.

Mohamad Fazli said the state government had also provided RM40 rebate in electricity bills for those registered in the e-Kasih system.

Some RM2mil was allocated for the rebate, benefitting about 4,210 recipients, including 118 in Kluang with an allocation of more than RM56,000, he added.

Mohamad Fazli said basic infrastructure in Johor was improving.

“In terms of mobile network coverage, I am pleased to note that as of June this year, about 99.2% of Johor has 4G coverage while 5G network coverage stands at 84%,” he added.

The state government was also continuously upgrading Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex.

He recently made a working visit to BSI to ensure upgrading works being carried out would be completed according to the timeline given.

“Upgrading works are being carried out involving six toilets inside BSI at the bus lane area’s entry and exit points,” said Mohamad Fazli.
