Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will introduce shifts for its Enforcement Department as early as December.

Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif added that DBKL also agreed to provide a shift allowance of RM400 for grades 19 to 40 and RM300 for grades 1 to 16.

“This is part of improvements and reforms within the department by reorganising the placement and duty rotation of officers and enforcement personnel in the field.

“Currently, the officers work office hours and if there is after-hours duty, they will have to work overtime.

“This shift reduces overtime so that officers can spend more time with their families,” she said at a press conference after City Hall’s 55th Enforcement Day at Menara Penguatkuasa DBKL in Jalan Yaacob Latif, Bandar Tun Razak.

Maimunah said since last year, DBKL had increased the local rank allowance from RM40 to RM120 per month.

“Its purpose is to motivate and show appreciation to the enforcement officers.

“I would like to urge all enforcement officers to continue improving their quality of service and professionalism.”

The Enforcement Day included a parade with the participation of 483 enforcement officers and employees.

There were several performances such as pantomime, joint display by the equestrian unit and a kuda kepang group, martial arts demonstration and the Enforcement Department’s marching band.

Forty enforcement officers received medals in recognition of their outstanding service.

Also present during the event were DBKL executive director (socio-economic development) Ismadi Sakirin and Enforcement Department director Mohd Muzammer Jamaluddin.

“I would like to express my highest appreciation and gratitude to all enforcement personnel who have demonstrated unwavering commitment in carrying out their duties,” said Maimunah.

She also urged the officers to stay free of corruption.
