Selangor’s second global business meet to take place in KL


The Spark 2024 expo featured 285 booths from six countries, including Malaysia.

This Oct 16 to 19, Selangor International Business Summit 2024 (SIBS) will continue with its second series.

Featuring the Selangor International Expo 2024, Selangor Life Sciences Convention 2024 and Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention 2024, the summit will be held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Series two comes on the heels of SIBS’ series one that saw events such as the Selangor Investment and Industrial Park Expo (Spark) 2024 and Selangor Asean Business Conference (SABC) 2024.

Held across an area of 9,710sq m, series one welcomed 8,550 visitors from 22 countries including Malaysia, Asean countries, Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Laos, Mauritius, South Korea, Timor-Leste, United Kingdom and Zimbabwe.

Spark 2024 featured a series of forums, including 18 pitching sessions, four pocket talks and two panel sessions.

These events provided insights into current market trends, business strategies and innovative products and services.

A total of 23 letters of agreement, letters of intent, memoranda of agreement and memoranda of understanding were exchanged during the summit.

This year’s expo featured 285 booths from six countries, including Malaysia, compared to 258 booths from four countries in 2023.

The total potential transaction value from negotiations done at the booths and document exchanges reached RM13.18bil this year, surpassing the RM7bil target set for SIBS 2024.

Last year, Spark 2023 recorded a total negotiated transaction value of RM4.6bil from booth activities and document exchanges.

This amount contributed to SIBS 2023’s overall recorded value of RM6.12bil.

The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) Invest Series Selangor: Unfolding Its Business Potential also played a significant role in Spark 2024.

SABC 2024 featured 27 speakers and panellists from Asean member countries and Timor-Leste, attracting over 500 attendees, including over 200 international delegates.

In comparison, SABC 2023 had 23 speakers and panellists, and drew 783 attendees.

Last year, 100 international delegates were present.

The Industri Kreatif Asean mini showcase, with participants from five countries, also drew many visitors and highlighted the region’s vibrant cultures.
