CHOICES for quick and affordable seafood meals have grown, thanks to the return of a popular fast food chain from the United States.

Long John Silver (LJS) franchise, which left the Malaysian market two decades ago, has made a comeback.

Renowned for its deep-fried battered pollock, the menu is now diverse with something for everyone, said LJS Restaurants (M) Sdn Bhd chairman and chief financial officer Rejie Samuel.

“The pollock served at our restaurants come from the Bering Sea,” he said.

There are a la carte options too.

“Customers can also choose to have sub-sandwiches which are made with ciabatta bread.

“Besides that, there are grilled seafood and chicken strips as well as fries, corn and clam chowder.”

LJS managing director and chief executive officer Samuel Chandy said the shrimp burger and clam chowder were among dishes that had received positive reviews from diners.

“Many commented about the juicy whole shrimps in the patty and how they complement the crunchy coleslaw which is a unique find in the market.

“LJS clam chowder is comforting and many like adding crumbs from the battered seafood or chicken for extra texture and flavour,” he said.

Currently, there are two restaurants at Jalan Diplomatik, Putrajaya and Bandar Seri Putra, Kajang.

Samuel said there are plans to expand to at least three other locations by the end of the year. – By VIJENTHI NAIR
