FOUR food premises were given notices for failing to comply with regulations by Sibu Municipal Council (SMC).

Its public health, environment and municipal services committee acting deputy chairman Yiing Sy Huat said the notices were issued during an inspection.

The premises, he said, failed to maintain their toilets and kitchens.

“Violations included the use of outdated or damaged kitchen equipment, which resulted in seizures at three premises.

“Additionally, several kitchens were found to be in unhygienic conditions, with the absence of grease traps,” said Yiing.

Toilets at one of the premises did not have “No Smoking” signs and the floors were wet.

“We urge all food premises to follow the guidelines and laws,” Yiing said.

He reminded operators to prioritise cleanliness, particularly in kitchens and toilets, to safeguard public health.

Also present were councillors Yii Suok Ming, Dr Johnny Kieh and Norizan Sanyut.
