Royal support for women’s triumphs

Che Puan Besar Haminah (right) praised the efforts of women striving against the odds, as told by Lian in her book. They are seen here at Lian’s book launch in Subang Jaya.

SHARING powerful accounts of resilience is how Lian Wai Bee relates her journey from self-doubt to self-empowerment in her book titled Embracing Imperfections: Women’s Stories of Triumph.

“Writing this book was a journey of healing, not just for myself but for every woman who has ever felt less than she is.

“I hope these stories will inspire others to find their own paths to empowerment,” said Lian.

Inspired by real-life stories, Lian’s book arrives at a crucial time when it is even more important that women’s voices are heard by society.

The narratives presented in Lian’s book resonate universally, with featured personalities including a mother, childhood trauma survivor, health advocate and traditional homemaker.

Readers will get to hear from four inspiring women through Lian’s storytelling.

There is Joyce Moi who, despite her grief, perpetuates the legacy of her late daughter Janet Lee, an epileptic artist and colourist who succumbed to cancer.

Suanne Lai overcame childhood trauma and depression to regain her self-esteem as she makes a career comeback after a decade of full-time motherhood.

Chen Wai Ling suffered serious spine injury while caring for her late mother through breast cancer treatment.

Prioritising health and wellness, she co-founded Impact Zone Fitclub to help others reclaim their health.

Lolitta Suffian battled the confines of being a traditional wife. After her divorce, she rebuilt her life with her son while her husband helped her throughout her healing process.

Che Puan Besar Kedah Haminah Hamidun said, “The book celebrates the strength and resilience of women from diverse backgrounds.

“It highlights their unique journeys, breaks the silence around their struggles and victories.

“The story invites us to reflect on our own paths with newfound empathy and inspiration.”

Che Puan Besar Haminah was the special guest who unveiled Lian’s book at Worq Subang, a co-working space in Subang Jaya, Selangor.

Worq co-founder and chief executive officer Stephanie Ping expressed the company’s belief that true success comes from empowering women to embrace their strength and potential.

“As the author of this inspiring book, Lian has beautifully captured the resilience and courage of her own journey as well as also those of the remarkable women featured within.

“Their stories of triumph in the face of adversity are testament to the transformative power of vulnerability and community support.

“We are proud to champion this message at Worq,” said Ping.

Lian has more than 30 years of experience in marketing management.

She was inspired to write her book after volunteering as a mentor for Harvard University-based non-governmental organisation “Project Girls 4 Girls”.

Her passion is empowering women to find their true strength at different stages of life.

Embracing Imperfections: Women’s Stories of Triumph is priced at RM33.70 per copy, with 20% of net book sales dedicated to supporting National Cancer Society of Malaysia.
