Hot springs treat for orphans

Happy faces at the charity camp in Hulu Selangor that hosted orphans and their caregivers.

ORPHANS as well as their caregivers in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur enjoyed two days of fun, thanks to hotspring getaway Beacon Resort and two charity bodies.

Nestled in the serene surroundings of Hulu Selangor in Selangor, the resort welcomed 628 participants, including children aged five to 18, from 25 homes.

The Orphanage Charity Camp provided participants with two experiences; a day trip and a two-day stay.

Each experience was curated to ensure that every child and caregiver enjoyed a meaningful time.

Activities ranged from refreshing hotspring baths to interactive animal farm visits and adventurous jungle trekking.

The children also enjoyed fun activities such as magic shows, clown performances and balloon sculpting.

The children who stayed at the resort overnight took part in teambuilding activities that involved cardboard boat building as well as arts and crafts.

Their caregivers indulged in relaxation therapies and a lively karaoke session, providing a well-deserved break from their daily routines.

The charity camp, part of Beacon Resort’s corporate social responsibility, was held in collaboration with the Community Care Enrichment Programme (CCEP) Foundation.

CCEP Foundation is a non-governmental organisation founded by 10 trustees.

It runs various programmes to benefit the poor without discrimination in age, race, creed or religion.

CCEP offers monthly and quarterly assistance, medical and financial aid, and educational support programmes.

The safety of camp participants was bolstered by standby ambulance and paramedic services arranged by popular social activist and philanthropist Kuan Chee Heng, better known as “Uncle Kentang”.

His charity organisation Pertubuhan Amal Uncle Kentang Malaysia, set up in 2019, works to alleviate poverty and enhance the quality of life through community support.

It also provides ambulance services, emergency aid and practical assistance to those in need.

The charity camp was also made possible by the generosity of sponsors and partners which included Persatuan Kebajikan KCT, Lum Seng Enterprise, Beaks Construction, Marigold, Walls, Mr Pan Mee, Radiant Whole Food, Beacon Mart, No Fock Design, TSA Group Bhd, Tahpi, YS Lee Management, Infotrek, Rhapsody Symphony, YH Electrical Engineering Sdn Bhd, Masaru Ventures Sdn Bhd, Beacon International Trading, Regen Rehab Hospital, Beacon Hospital and Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur.

Inspired by the camp’s overwhelming success, Beacon Resort plans to continue supporting communities in need, with the aim of building a more compassionate and connected society.
