IN CONJUNCTION with the city’s 24th anniversary, Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) presented 60 hampers to parents of babies born on Oct 10 in four hospitals across the city.

The hampers, each containing RM150 worth of baby supplies, were presented to parents of newborns delivered at Hospital Shah Alam, Avisena Women’s and Children’s Specialist Hospital, KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital and Hospital Umra.

“These hampers were gifted as a gesture of gratitude and to share joy of the babies’ birth on Oct 10,” MBSA Corporate and Public Relations Department director Mohd Azhar Mohd Sharif said in a statement.

“Oct 10 is a very meaningful date for the council, as it marks 24 years since the council was upgraded from municipal to city status.”

Shah Alam mayor Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim and his wife Datin Rohani Abdullah, who is MBSA Puspanita chairman, presented the hampers to the newborns and their parents.

Also present were Shah Alam acting deputy mayor Madiyan Baweh, MBSA Deputy Secretary (Management) Asmah Mohd Zin and MBSA councillor Tengku Ahmad Tengku Kasim.

MBSA also held a “Let’s Fill Up Free Motorcycle Fuel” programme at a petrol station in Kota Kemuning.

“A total of 500 motorcycle riders received free petrol worth RM10 each,” said Mohd Azhar.

“It is aimed at benefitting target groups such as food delivery riders, civil servants, industry workers and students from higher education institutions in Shah Alam.”

Mohd Azhar added that MBSA was offering various incentives to the public, especially for Shah Alam residents.

These include a 75% discount on selected fines, RM20 offer for parking compounds and free membership sign-up at MBSA’s library throughout October.
