IT was a jubilant day for 85 top academic achievers in Penang’s Padang Kota constituency as they received awards for outstanding achievements.
The ceremony at Lee Kongsi in Burmah Road, George Town, celebrated excellence across various categories, including primary (Year One to Six), secondary (Form One to Four), Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia for the 2023 academic session.
In addition, 16 winners of the colouring and drawing contest, organised by Lebuh Chulia Village Community Management Council (MPKK), received their prizes.
Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who is also Padang Kota assemblyman, highlighted the state’s commitment to human capital development.
“We need the support of parents and the community to nurture Penang’s human capital.
“The state government also seeks to work with the Federal Government to make educational reform a success and ensure access to quality education,” Chow said.
State publisher Buletin Mutiara also interviewed a few parents of outstanding students at SK Perempuan Methodist.
G. Nagavalli said she was extremely happy with her daughter S. Thaneshika’s academic performance.
“We are excited to see our daughter being recognised for excellent performance in her studies.
“This will encourage her and other pupils to continue excelling.”
Another parent Issaivani Daniel thanked the state government for organising the event.
Her daughter T. Pireethiha was one of the award recipients.
“We appreciate the state government’s gesture in recognising students.
“Thank you, and we hope this initiative will continue,” Issaivani said.
Norhidayu Noormohamad, mother of Nur Ariesya Amani Ahmad Rizal, who scored straight As in her exams, also shared her pride in her daughter’s accomplishments.
“We hope Nur Ariesya will continue to achieve success in future endeavours,” Norhidayu said.
