Families in need in George Town, Penang, revelled in Deepavali cheer thanks to Sri Sakthi Vinayagar Temple’s “Caring Heart” programme.

A total of 35 people from Mount Erskine and Fettes Park received hampers containing groceries worth RM100 each.

These were given out to recipients who included senior citizens, single mothers, those with special needs and the B40 group.

Temple management headed by Rajah Ganesan and his committee presented the hampers in Fettes Park.

“This is one of the temple’s community programmes designed to enhance unity and rapport with the people,” he said.

Rajah thanked Rotary Club of Penang for its contribution as well as temple committee members who donated to the cause.

Rotarian Dr S. Balendran was also present.

This is the second year the temple organised a hamper presentation for Deepavali.
