Outlet enhances retail experience with AI-powered solutions

LEADING Australian retailer Harvey Norman has launched its flagship store at Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur, marking a significant milestone in its expansion strategy.

The store, inaugurated by Australian Trade and Investment Commission senior investment director Patricia Lee, aims to redefine home and lifestyle retail by integrating smart technology with customer convenience.

The outlet offers a wide range of products, including home appliances, furniture and bedding.

Harvey Norman is targeting 80 stores nationwide, with suitable market conditions permitting.

“Malaysia is really a focus market for us,” said Harvey Norman Singapore and Malaysia managing director Bernice Kwok in an interview.

“We have managed to build a trusted brand by offering a unique shopping experience that elevates home appliances and lifestyle retail.”

Harvey Norman has just two stores on the east coast of the peninsula, with significant growth potential in other states and cities, she said.

“There are still many areas where we feel the need to establish our presence so that everyone can experience Harvey Norman,” Kwok added.

Visitors can engage with its state-of-the-art appliances and furnishings.

“Our flagship store is designed as an experiential hub.

“It provides consumers the opportunity to explore AI-powered solutions that simplify daily tasks.

“We chose the Mid Valley store as our flagship because of its convenient location and excellent customer flow.

“We wanted this store to be more than just a place to sell products, but a community hub where people can connect and engage with us through various events and workshops.”

At the heart of the store is the AI-powered Smart Sleep Technology bedMATCH that offers personalised mattress recommendations based on a customer’s body profile and sleep habits.

“BedMATCH analyses body pressure and spinal posture to suggest the best mattress fit, making the selection process more precise,” said Harvey Norman lead general manager Eddy Ng.

Harvey Norman has also introduced NextGen AI Laptops.

Trained Harvey Norman AI experts assist customers in finding the best model to fit their needs, from enhancing creativity to streamlining work tasks.

“Many people believe that AI is a thing of the future but in reality AI is already here and making a difference now.

“NextGen AI PCs represent the next big advancement since the launch of Windows XP.

“They offer extended battery life and improved data security,” said Kwok.

In line with its commitment to corporate social responsibility, Harvey Norman has donated 24 AI laptops, valued at RM97,000, to underprivileged secondary school students.

The laptops were distributed to students from SMK (P) Pudu, SMJK Chong Hwa, SMK Vivekananda and SMK Cheras in Kuala Lumpur.

To celebrate the launch, the flagship store hosted a series of activities and promotions from Oct 30 to Nov 3.
