Innovation takes flight

AS enthusiasts gathered to witness the unveiling of new and innovative technologies that will pilot the future of aviation, the roar of jet engines echoed throughout the Selangor Aviation Show.

Show planes soared through the sky to give the aviation show a dose of excitement rarely experienced by the public.

Skypark Regional Aviation Centre adjacent to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport featured aircraft of different sizes from all over the world, adorned with unique liveries representing their respective organisations; one was even painted with our iconic tiger stripes.

Guest of honour Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who launched the fourth edition of the event, even had the opportunity to take a seat inside the state-of-the-art Gamebird GB-1 as its pilot, Capt John “Scratchman” Sham, introduced its features.

Capt John is an aerobatics pilot formerly with Royal Malaysian Air Force, who has also performed at aviation events like Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition.

Visitors were also given the rare opportunity to get up close with the aircraft on display.

The annual Selangor Aviation Show serves as an exhibition for local and international players from the aviation sector to showcase the latest and greatest innovations in the world of air transportation.

It also functions as a networking platform for aviation-related businesses to ink potential deals.

This year, the aviation show generated more than RM1.3bil in transactions, with 128 booths representing 88 companies from seven countries.
