Yayasan Ipoh (YI) has teamed up with a private clinic to provide better care for people with disabilities.

YI chief executive officer Datuk Dr R. Ramanathan said Klinik Ng dan Singh had opened at the foundation’s premises in Bercham, Perak.

Dr Ramanathan, an orthopaedic surgeon, said the clinic would boost the foundation’s existing services such as physiotherapy, occupational and speech therapy as well as early intervention for disabled children.

“Furthermore, YI is a guarded compound with ample covered parking and 24-hour closed-circuit security camera system, making it safe for all our clients.

“The clinic will also be open to the public with discounted prices and subsidised medication,” he said at the clinic’s opening.

Among those present were clinic board of directors Dr Bhagwan Singh and Amarjit Kaur, and former YI board of trustees member Dr Ragu Raman.

Dr Ramanathan thanked Dr Bhagwan for providing clinic equipment, fittings and furnishings at no cost.

He said a substantial amount from the clinic’s revenue would be donated to Yayasan Ipoh.

Dr Bhagwan in his speech said he and his wife had been looking for an avenue to do charity work.

Through the setting-up of the clinic, they have found a way to serve the public as well as the disabled children.

“I plan to set up an X-ray unit at the clinic,” he added.

During the event, guests were offered free health screenings as well as blood tests at a promotional price.
