Foundation lights up evening for 160 underprivileged kids

During the celebration, children from several welfare homes and communities had smiles on their faces, reminding everyone of the power of kindness.

IN a heartfelt move to spread joy, Budimas Charitable Foundation organised a Deepavali celebration for 160 underprivileged children in Kuala Lumpur.

By bringing together these kids for one of the country’s main festivals, the non-profit foundation created lasting memories as well as instilled hope in the lives of the young ones.

The children had smiles on their faces, reminding everyone of the power of kindness.

It was clear that the spirit of Deepavali had truly come alive for them.

Honoured guests at the event were foundation chairman Tunku Datuk Yaacob Khyra and members of its board of trustees.

These guests included Datin Seri Maneesah Tunku Iskandar, Tengku Muinuddin Putra, Steve Teoh, Yudistra Darma Dorai and Yong Yoke Keong.

The foundation’s principal officer Anne Rajasaikaran was also present.

Among the event’s prominent partners and corporate entities were Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia and Universiti Geomatika Malaysia.

Enjoying the evening were special guests and children from several welfare homes and communities.

These included Orion Home, Pusat Jagaan Titian Kaseh and Pure Life Society.

The night began with a welcome address by Anne who spoke about the significance of Deepavali.

This was followed by a launch, during which members of the board of trustees lit candles (kuttu vilakhu) that cast a warm glow throughout the venue.

The evening brimmed with joy as the children savoured a variety of treats.

They also displayed their talents through a number of performances.

Adding to the thrill were lively competitions, after which winners were cheered on as they received prizes.

The children were also treated to some pocket money giveaway.

Budimas Charitable Foundation, which is a non-governmental organisation, upholds its fundamental values via its three main programmes, namely the Budimas Home Charity Fund, Budimas Food Charity Fund and Budimas Education Charity Fund.

Two new initiatives – the Budimas Children Medical Care Fund and the Budimas Performing Arts Fund – reflect the foundation’s commitment to fostering a well-rounded future for Malaysia’s children.

Established under the Trustees Act of 1952, the foundation focuses on providing support and funding for orphans and underprivileged children in the country.
