New slip road at Klebang roundabout open to traffic

MELAKA: The newly constructed slip road at the Klebang roundabout leading towards Batang Tiga is now accessible to traffic, says Datuk Wira Lim Ban Hong.

The Klebang assemblyman said the project is part of the state government's initiative to tackle traffic congestion at the busy stretch and make it more convenient for motorists to navigate.

"The upgrading work worth RM923,400 took approximately 20 weeks to be completed after the land acquisition process at the site was done.

“The request for the construction and improvement of the slip road was submitted by my team to the Public Works Department (JKR)," he said after the opening of the slip road on Thurs (Nov 14).

Melaka JKR director Mohamad Salzeli Moktar was also present during the ceremony.

Lim said the project is also aimed at enhancing safety at the roundabout intersection and minimise the accident rate at the stretch.

"The new slip road will also ensure smooth flow of traffic, particularly during peak hours and weekends apart from alleviating heavy traffic congestions experienced by the locals," he said.

Lim said he also plans to submit a new proposal for further upgrade works including widening the road up to the Batang Tiga traffic light junction.

Meanwhile, Taman Sayang Selasih Residential Association chairman R. Nagappan thanked Lim for his effort to overcome the traffic congestion issue at the area.

He said the housing estate with a population of 500 residents felt relieved when the new slip road opened as they had to put up with the traffic bottleneck during peak hours.

"We have to thank Lim for considering our plight and expediting the completion of the project," he added.
