WORLD Children’s Day was celebrated on a grand scale by Royale Chulan Hotels & Resorts Group at its Seremban property.
The hotel’s foyer was transformed into a playground for children, complete with an inflatable castle.
There were activities the entire family could enjoy including batik painting, sand art, face painting and henna hand art.
A clown entertained the crowd with magic shows and balloon sculptures.
The excitement continued with a colouring contest, dance and singing competitions and a fashion show.
Royale Chulan chief operating officer Jack Wong Yun Kit said the hotel group was thrilled to host Children’s Day Festival 2024 in the Negri Sembilan capital.
“The weekend event was aimed at creating experiences that brought families together.
“We wanted to celebrate the joy of childhood with fun activities the entire family could enjoy,” he said.
Wong also expressed his gratitude to sponsors including National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) and the 60 vendors who contributed to the event’s success.
Present were Negri Sembilan tourism, arts and culture committee chairman Nicole Tan Lee Koon, who shared with guests the state’s various attractions.
PTPTN chairman Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim, who was also present, congratulated the hotel group for organising an event that brought children of all backgrounds together.
She also expressed hope that the programme would become an annual event.
“We should invest in the creativity and talent of our children for the future as they are the nation’s human capital.
“Besides sponsoring RM8,000 in cash prizes for the event, PTPTN has also set up a booth,” she said, adding that the SSPN Savings fund was helpful for parents to plan for their children’s financial security and education.
Each first-prize winner in selected competitions bagged RM500 cash sponsored by PTPTN, gifts worth RM400, trophy, certificate and Legoland Malaysia theme park tickets.
Second- and third-prize winners took home RM400 and RM300 in cash respectively, gifts worth RM300, trophies, certificates and tickets to SnowLim Wonderland Malaysia.
All participants were treated to lunch and received tokens of appreciation, certificates and door gifts.
Other events included a chess tournament hosted by The Training Chess Centre Negeri Sembilan, a Lego challenge in collaboration with Brick Matrix and a baking workshop led by the hotel’s pastry chefs.
Muhammad Shiddiq Aidan Mohd Shairazi, seven, who joined the workshop with his 10-year-old sister Nur Shafeera Aulia, said he was in his element in the kitchen.
“I like helping my parents prepare meals but I’ve never made a cake before.
“I think it’s super fun to bake,” he said.
Echoing his sentiments were junior chess masters Sai Vikasshini, 10, and Caedon Tan, 12.
“I hope there will be more such events as it was cool to put my chess knowledge to the test and participate in all the other fun stuff,” said Sai.
Caedon, who played against Sai, said he was happy to meet his peers and hone his chess skills.
Winners of the chess tourney received trophies while the Lego whizzes won Lego box prizes.
A fire engine from Seremban Fire and Rescue Station at the lobby entrance made the event even more thrilling.
Children had the opportunity to explore the fire truck, don a mini firefighter uniform and learn about being a firefighter.
Another draw was an exhibition by Negri Sembilan Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) to teach kids about fauna.
Children also benefitted from complimentary medical check-ups including a dental examination and eye screening.
