15 government officers complete ACE Digital Transformation programme

KUALA LUMPUR: Fifteen government officers from various departments and ministries have completed the inaugural ACE: Navigating the Digital Frontier for Smart Government programme.

Launched in May this year, the six-month programme aimed to merge academic expertise with industry insights, equipping participants with essential skills in artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, and cybersecurity.

Public Service Department Senior Deputy Director Yusri Razalli highlighted the importance of these areas in supporting Malaysia's vision of becoming a connected and future-ready society.

“The programme aligns with the government’s goal to position Malaysia as a leader in AI and digital innovation within Southeast Asia. We remain committed to leveraging AI to create opportunities for a digital future,” he said at the graduation ceremony held recently in Beijing, China.

Yusri also expressed gratitude to all parties involved in the programme's success. “These skills will enable government officers to embrace new digital initiatives, improving service delivery efficiency for the people,” he added.

The ACE programme was co-organised by Multimedia University (MMU) and ZTE Malaysia.

ZTE Malaysia Managing Director Steven Ge underscored the company's dedication to supporting Malaysia’s digital transformation and 5G ambitions. “With Malaysia achieving over 80% 5G population coverage and ranking among the global leaders in 5G speeds, the ACE programme is crucial for equipping the public sector with the necessary skills to lead in this fast-evolving digital landscape,” he said.

He noted that the hands-on approach in collaboration with MMU is key to fostering a future-ready digital ecosystem in Malaysia.

MMU President Prof Datuk Dr Mazliham Mohd Su’ud said the programme represents a major step in blending academic excellence with practical industry experience. “Our collaboration has empowered participants to handle the complexities of digital transformation, especially within public service, where cross-departmental cooperation is essential,” he said.

The programme began with a preparatory session at MMU, followed by five months of industry-focused learning. This included workshops, case studies, and visits to 22 leading tech companies in China.
