MALAYSIAN sports event company Novus Sports is on a mission to elevate the nation’s darts scene, both domestically and internationally.
By nurturing talent, improving player skill levels and developing youth and players with disabilities, the company aims to create a strong foundation for the sport in Malaysia.
A key part of this initiative is to establish a pathway for young players and players with disabilities to enter the sport and compete at the highest level.
By creating ranking tournaments and maintaining comprehensive player records, Novus Sports aims to position Malaysia as a significant force in the global darts community.
Novus Sports founder Joshua Ambrose said he saw immense potential in the local darts scene.
“By developing talent, increasing the number of tournaments and maintaining player records, we can elevate Malaysia’s position as a significant competitor in the global darts scene,” he said.
Beyond the competitive aspect, he said darts was a sport that fostered focus, strategic thinking and inclusivity.
He said Novus Sports was committed to harnessing these qualities by providing players with the necessary tools and opportunities to excel.
To support this, the company plans to establish a training facility − in collaboration with the Malaysian Darts Association (MDA) and international bodies −to cater to players of all levels.
The company’s commitment to inclusivity is evident in its tailored programmes for players with disabilities.
This ensures that everyone, regardless of their ability, has the chance to participate and thrive in the sport.
“It’s great to see an initiative that not only aims to elevate the sport but also ensures that everyone has a chance to participate and thrive,” said Malaysian Darts Association deputy president Akbar Shah Jalal.
Novus Sports is taking significant steps to position Malaysia as a key player in the global darts scene.
By hosting ranking tournaments, maintaining player records and creating pathways for international advancement, the company aims to foster a thriving dart sport community.
The launch of the Novus Series, a year-round tournament, is a testament to this commitment.
This series will elevate the standard of competitive darts in Malaysia and encourage the development of the sport at various levels.
With the support of Youth and Sports Ministry and potential partnerships with reputable organisations, Novus Sports is well-positioned to revolutionise the Malaysian darts scene.
Ambrose’s vision for the sport, coupled with the company’s comprehensive approach, promises a bright future for Malaysian dart players.
