Penang Real Estate and Housing Developers Association (Rehda) has been a key driver in the state’s growth over the past 50 years, said Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

He said Rehda has been pivotal in fostering the development of new townships, generating employment and creating business opportunities.

“The Penang government has been actively collaborating with Rehda Penang to address challenges faced by the industry.

“Rehda’s proactive engagement with the state government, agencies and local authorities has led to meaningful progress for the government, housing and property development sectors,” he said at Rehda Penang’s Golden Jubilee annual dinner in George Town.

State publisher Buletin Mutiara reported that Chow also expressed his appreciation for the partnership between Rehda Penang and the Penang government in improving the quality of life for residents.

“We deeply value Rehda Penang’s cooperation in advocating for an improved quality of life for the people of Penang.

“Penang’s continued progress and prosperity can only be realised through the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders, including Rehda, by fostering consultation, dialogue and public-private partnerships,” he added.

Chow extended his gratitude to Rehda Penang members for their steadfast support in enhancing Penang as a thriving state.

He acknowledged Rehda Penang’s dedication and commitment to working closely with the state government, expressing hope for continued collaboration to benefit Penang in the years to come.

Meanwhile, Rehda Penang chairman Datuk Khoo Teck Chong reaffirmed the association’s readiness to partner with the state government in advancing Penang’s property and housing sectors.

“This includes collaborating with various state agencies to formulate housing guidelines and policies that improve the well-being of the state,” Khoo added.

Among those present at the event were Consul-General of China in Penang Zhou Youbin, Penang infrastructure, transport and digital committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari and state local government, town and country planning committee chairman Jason H’ng Mooi Lye.

Others include state housing and environment committee chairman Datuk Seri S. Sundarajoo, Penang Island mayor Datuk A. Rajendran and Rehda Malaysia president Datuk Ho Hon Sang.
