SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government will re-evaluate the monthly allocation for community service centres (PKM), including in opposition state constituencies, says Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
The Mentri Besar said this followed calls by several assemblymen in light of increasing rentals.
"We will look into the overall situation. For example, in Tanjung Karang where it may be below RM2,000, but it is higher in Petaling.
"As for the location of PKM, it should ideally be within the area, but we do not want to enforce it strictly as it would lead to higher costs,” he said during the Selangor State Assembly at Bangunan Dewan Negeri Selangor in Shah Alam on Nov 20.
Amirudin added the state was also considering increasing the number of staff allocated for service centres, with a decision to be made by next June.
He said there were also calls for more staff, especially in areas with many monthly or even weekly programmes.
"Currently, we are maintaining a quota of four officers, but we will consider adding more staff after assessing PKM's workload with existing programmes,” he said.
He was responding to Lwi Kian Keong (PH-Sungai Pelek) on whether the state plans to raise the salaries or allowances for officers at PKM and if there were any plans to increase the number of staff at these centres.
